For as long as Marilyn Broesky can remember, she has brought a creative mind to everything she has done in life. Growing up as the eldest of six children in a modest household, fun and play relied entirely on her own imagination.

On the day her triplet brothers were born, Marilyn was just four years old, with her sisters aged two and one. Responsibilities came early, and her daily routines meant helping her mother scrub cloth diapers for five younger siblings without the convenience of running water.

When Marilyn started school, a wide-eyed world of pencils, paper, and crayons opened up to her. Recesses were spent drawing and mixing colors. Soon, she was creating her own paper dolls with custom outfits—a source of great joy that she happily shared by designing dolls for her classmates. Self-taught on an old treadle Singer sewing machine, she began tailoring unique “one-of-a-kind” outfits from hand-me-down clothes, which quickly caught the attention of peers who asked for her designs.

In high school, Marilyn pursued hairdressing with dreams of going to France to design for the fashion industry. Her love for hair design and raising a family kept her busy for years, but her journey took another creative turn when she discovered canvas and oil paints. Fascinated by the medium, she became a self-taught artist across multiple styles and disciplines, driven by a passion to embrace every facet of the arts.

Over time, Marilyn began exhibiting her work and entering competitions, emerging as a top artist and earning recognition and awards. Today, in semi-retirement, her imagination remains her constant companion. Through reflection, meditation, and feeling every stroke of the brush, she translates the vibrant dimensions and colors of her mind onto the canvas—approaching her art with boundless energy and emotion.
