Camp Minimum

Camps are subject to cancellation if the minimum number of registrants is not reached.  In this case, a full refund (or an account credit) will be issued including membership and administration fees. We inform registering students as soon as possible when we have cancelled a class.

If Due to Public Health Recommendations

If Public Health recommends that isolation is to be reinstated and arrangements for virtual teaching can be made by SAC, no credits or refunds will be issued.

If virtual learning is not possible, the participant will receive a prorated credit for the remainder of their class.

Students will receive an information/reminder email prior to the start of a class/workshop.

A refund will be issued if the participant withdraws 2 weeks or more prior to the start date of a class/workshop. Membership Fee (or non-member fee) and our Administration Fee is not included in the refund amount.

No refunds will be issued if the participant withdraws less than two weeks prior to the start date of a class/workshop.

Summer Arts Day Camps Bursary Program

SAC aims to break barriers and give every child the opportunity to participate in our programs. SAC gives away a pre-determined number of bursaries each year.
Fill out the Camp Bursary form (click here) and email office@steinbacharts.ca to submit the application or for more information.

Here are a few things you need to know before coming to camp:

• Parents sign you in and out for each day of camp! You will be able to leave camp once your parent signs you out. If you are sick, we ask that you please stay home. Please have someone call SAC and leave a message if you will be away!
• Our camps run from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. There will be supervision 10 minutes before and after. Please arrive on time to start and finish your day! We are at 304 Second St, Steinbach.
• You will need to bring a small snack and a lunch each day! Please DO NOT bring nuts or nut products as there are campers with allergies.
• Please label all your personal belongings! You are responsible for what you bring to camp. You will be asked to keep all of your electronics in your bag.
• Please bring all medication needed such as epi-pens, inhalers, and prescribed medication.
• Please send your camper with a water bottle as it is important for them to keep hydrated.
• Bring your bathing suit, towel, and swimming safety floats if needed (for splash park and swimming pool), backpack, and indoor shoes to camp every day!

Things to NOT bring to SADC: Cell Phones, Tablets, Laptops, iPods, MP3 Players, and Money

*PLEASE NOTE: If these items are brought to camp, your camper(s) will be asked to safely store them in the SAC office until they can be brought home.

Behavioral Guidance Policy

Before camp, parents and caregivers should discuss behavioral expectations for camp. Camp offers an excellent venue for learning problem-solving skills, and subsequently, campers are involved in each step of the resolution process when problems occur.

If behavioral problems arise, we follow this procedure:

• The camper works out a solution with their camp  leader. If further intervention is required, a SAC Staff Member will be involved in the problem-solving process.
• If behavior problems persist, the camper’s parent or guardian may be contacted to ask for guidance, and be involved in the resolution process.
• If behavior issues continue and negatively impact the camp experience of other campers (including, but not limited to, bullying and violent conduct), the camper will be sent home.
• Violence of any kind will not be tolerated. The camper will be sent home immediately. We do not tolerate any kind of violent treatment towards our staff and other students/participants.

Is each week of camp the same?

While each week will contain the same elements, the activities will be different each week. Different science experiments, different games, and different crafts means a camper who comes to all seven weeks of camp will have a different experience every day! Of course, some camper favourites will be included each week – like the splash pad and swimming!

What happens if there is bad weather?

Weather can be unpredictable, but we have preparations for inclement weather. We will have tents set up in case of rain during day camps. If the weather becomes dangerous, we will not keep the children outside. In case of very hot weather or a thunderstorm, we have a big enough facility that we will be able to space out the children and be able to keep them safe inside the building.

When will I receive the camp schedule for the week once registered?

A welcome letter with a camp schedule and all the information you need for your week of camp will be emailed the week before your registered week of camp.

Can I register my child if they turn 5 AFTER the summer?

No,  due to our wide age range already, your child will need to be 5 during the summer to register.

My child needs an educational assistant at school/respite/support worker. Can my child join?

As our camp staff are mostly university students, we welcome you to bring your own respite worker to camp if needed.
