MEET OUR INSTRUCTORS

Miss Pam : Arts4Tots Preschool Program Director

We are pleased to have Pam Peters as Director of Arts4Tots. Miss Pam has been with the program for 15 years. We welcome her experience in working with special needs children, as well as her creativity in helping our Centre develop a unique and vibrant curriculum over the past years.

Miss Jamie: Arts4Tots Preschool Program Assistant Director

We are pleased to welcome Jamie Newransky as Assistant Director of Arts4Tots. Jamie comes to us with a background in Early Childhood Education with a specialization in literacy for young children. She enjoys inspiring creativity through theatre and music.

Registration Information

Program Duration: September 18, 2023 – June 6, 2024

Student Requirements:

Children must be three (3) years old on December 31st of the current school year
Children must be potty trained

Parents have an option to register their child 2 or 4 days per week - whatever is suitable for you!

What you need to pay:

$900 class fees/year for 2-session schedule | $1,800 class fees/year for a 4-session schedule
$25 Administration Fee charged at the time of registration*
$50 Fundraising Waiver Cheque**
$25 Volunteer Waiver Cheque**
SAC Membership: $15 for Individual Residents | $20 for Individual Non-residents | $30 for Family Resident | $35 for Family Non-Resident

*Admin Fees are non-refundable

**Waiver Cheques and Credit Card Authorization Forms will be destroyed if parents complete the requirements for their volunteering and fundraising.

Payment Plan Schedule

You can pay in full at the time of registration or be on a payment plan. Quarterly payments will be taken by on:

Modes of payment accepted are credit card, debit card, cash, or cheque. E-transfers and direct deposits are not available.

Forms & Waivers

First payment and all required forms must be received by the SAC office in order to secure your AFT spot. These forms must be submitted before your child can start preschool.

Policies

Cancellation Policy

If an Arts4Tots (AFT) parent cancels their child’s registration before September 1, one month’s class fees are kept as well as the membership and administration fees, which are non-refundable.

If an AFT parent withdraws their child from class after September 1, the class fees for the current month and the next month will be kept. The membership and administration fees are non-refundable – this allows us to fill the child’s spot after the child withdraws.

If an AFT parent withdraws their child from the class later into the year, the payments and refunds will be determined by the SAC staff.

Communication

Communication with AFT parents is a priority within the program and open communication between parents and the directors/SAC staff is encouraged. Parents need to check their email regularly as much of the communication happens via email.

Social Media

Arts4Tots has a Facebook and Instagram page where activities are posted on a regular basis by the Directors. Only children who have signed the release waiver are included in photos on these pages.

Snacks

Small, nutritious snacks and drinks should be sent for snack time. AFT provides 10 minutes for eating. Directors must be notified upon registration of any allergies. No peanuts or nuts are allowed in classroom.

Safety

For the safety of the students, the AFT room door is locked daily, and parents/guardians should knock to enter.

Student Illness

Students should remain at home if they are sick. If they become sick at the Centre, parents/guardians will be responsible for picking them up.

Public Health Information

Your child’s SAFETY & WELL BEING are our number one concerns. As we have continued to do over the past couple of years, we may be making changes to the AFT program processes and systems to ensure we are compliant with any Health Regulations that come out regarding our preschool program.

At this time, here are our recommendations:

Parents can drop off their children at the classroom door, however we ask that parents do not come into the classroom at this time
Cleaning hands will continue to be standard practice during each session
Parents are asked not to stay in the Centre during their child’s session

AFT follows the Hanover School Division Calendar for all weather closures as well as school breaks (this includes Christmas Break and Spring Break) but not PD days. However, the Arts4Tots Program does not follow HSD for closures based on Public Health Orders. We are a Public Recreation Centre and will follow restrictions that pertain to that. If we are required to close our Centre, we will notify you as soon as possible.

What kind of dance and drama is involved in the program?

Appropriate movement for their age, mixed with suitable music helps to develop their large motor and coordination skills. When you learn to count, you learn by stepping it out in a dance! Drama is a great way to learn how to interpret their favorite stories and present themselves confidently!

What makes Arts4Tots unique?

Besides learning the basics, we bring in professional dancers, actors, music teachers and visual artists for them to learn in an artistic and creative way. The children participate in community field trips – a real hit!

How much ‘structure’ is included in this program?

The structure is not excessive, but enough to keep an efficient schedule that is balanced. However, self-expression, exploring creativity and gaining a strong sense of self confidence and wellbeing are the larger part of the program. Each day starts with 20 minutes of free play.

Can my child come to Arts4Tots if they don’t speak much English?

Yes, of course they can come! It can be challenging for them for a while, but they quickly catch on and are able to understand and speak English in no time. We have experienced this success in our program.

How do we know what our child will be doing for the week?

You will receive an email with a calendar. Look on Sunday’s column for the theme of the week and what we will be learning about or celebrating. Also included are PJ days, field trips, etc. Feel free to download the monthly calendar from our website.

How do we know if Arts4Tots is cancelled due to bad weather?

Listen to 96.7FM radio. If Hanover School Division is closed due to storm or cold weather, so are we.

What are the Volunteer and Fundraising Waivers?

The Steinbach Arts Council has developed a Waiver program for all of our full-year classes to keep classes affordable and accessible to our students. Parents have opportunities during the year to fundraise and volunteer as a way to subsidize their children’s classes. If those requirements are not met, then a waiver fee will be charged at the end of the year. We ask that parents either bring in post-dated cheques for those payments or fill out a Credit Card Authorization Form before the start of classes. For more information, click here.
