Message from the Executive Director

The Steinbach Arts Council believes that providing accessible opportunities to engage in quality arts and culture recreation is our responsibility. After four and a half decades, we proudly offer nearly 140 subsidized concerts and programs spanning all ages, bursaries for those in need, and free youth programming. Together, we have the ability to extend our reach. We invite you to be a part of turning that possibility into reality.

Join us on May 2 for our Fundraising Gala to help build a vibrant arts community. Call 204.346.1077 for more information.

Accessible Programming

We empower creative expression with bursaries and subsidized classes

At the heart of our organization are over 140 programs, including classes, workshops, and camps, designed to nurture creativity and talent. And with some of our community member’s support, our Creative Kids Bursary program ensures that financial barriers do not prevent individuals from participating.

Last year, we strengthened our bursary offerings and continued to provide free youth programming, reaching more families than ever. This not only enriches the lives of our participants but also contributes to the vibrant cultural tapestry of our community. By supporting arts education, we empower future generations to express themselves, fostering a more inclusive and creative society.

World-Class Entertainment

We offer concerts featuring international and local talents

From international to local talents across Canada, our stages celebrate artistic excellence at every level. We are dedicated to bringing world-class entertainment to our community, featuring a diverse range of concerts, theatre productions, musicals, and kids’ entertainment.

By hosting these events right in our hometown, we promote cross-cultural understanding and help support the local economy. Every sold-out show fuels our ability to keep ticket prices below urban venues, ensuring live performances remain accessible to rural families.

Local Artists

We celebrate artistic diversity

Our Hall Gallery has been a cornerstone of local and regional art for over 25 years, showcasing the work of emerging and established artists. From providing a common space for our Southeast Artist Group to supporting the promotion of original art through our Buy or Lease Art Program, to hosting the largest community exhibit, the Annual Southeast Open Judged Exhibit (SOJE), we welcome artists of all ages and skill levels to participate.

We celebrate the diversity of artistic expression by providing a platform for artists to share their work, foster a sense of community, encourage creative exchange, and inspire new generations of artists.

Culture & Heritage

We create community through arts and culture

The Steinbach Arts Council is situated on Treaty 1 territory, the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabe, Ininiw, Anishiniw, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and the homeland of the Métis Nation. In everything we do, we strive to preserve and celebrate the stories, traditions, and cultural heritage of Indigenous peoples and immigrant communities, recognizing the valuable contributions they bring to our region.

Through our programs, workshops, concerts, and exhibitions, we aim to promote cross-cultural understanding, respect, and empathy, and foster a sense of belonging and community for all. By doing so, we hope to contribute to a broader conversation about reconciliation, and honor the diverse heritage that makes our community vibrant and strong.

🍁 The Steinbach Arts Council acknowledges that we are on Treaty 1 territory and that the land on which we live and work is the traditional territory of Anishinaabe, Ininiw, Anishiniw, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and the homeland of the Métis Nation.
