Why is Art Important?
Creation, Innovation, & Teamwork
Art is a safe venue for youth to express their individuality, dreams and ideas. Art is enjoyable and it is a fun way to engage children from all walks of life. Youth of all ages can participate in ASAP and easy-to-do projects – individually and as a team! Collaboration is significant in creativity.
Requires Observation, Reflection & Implementation
The skills necessary for successful achievement are applied in art exposure. Creating art requires youth to observe their subject matter, interpret art and reflect on how it connects with their life. Favorite memories will most often include some form of ART – music, video, shows, media or other creative forms!
Problem-solving Skills
Art projects force children to create action plans and achieve project goals. Youth learn to utilize their time, materials and individual skills to create and finalize their art creation.
Improves Student Achievement
Student achievement improves when the arts are included in overall education. Youth who receive art & music are four times more likely to be recognized for academic excellence.
Cultural Acceptance
Art helps children think globally. Art exposure of diverse cultures and viewpoints helps children accept differences in their peers and in society.
