2025 Concerts in the Park

The Steinbach Arts Council is pleased to announce that your favourite FREE outdoor concert series is back this summer. KR Barkman Concerts in the Park are for the whole family, featuring local performers across a variety of genres – folk, pop, classical, punk, Southern Gospel, classic rock, theatre, and more!

Everyone is encouraged to bring your lawn chairs or a blanket to the KR Barkman Park on Tuesday, May 27th at 6:30pm for the first outdoor concert of 2025, and plan to enjoy the music on Tuesdays and Thursdays through to June 10th. To find KR Barkman Park, head southeast down Main Street, just past the Steinbach Fire Hall, and look for the gazebo.

The Steinbach Arts Council is delighted to partner with the Barkman Concrete Foundation to continue this summer tradition of featuring local and guest artists and bringing our community together in celebration of music and arts.

Hailing from Transcona, Mitchell, and Steinbach, Paradise on Fire is a high-energy Punk and Alternative Rock band that burst onto the Manitoba music scene in November 2024. With their debut single released on April 5, 2025, and more original music on the way, the band is quickly making a name for themselves through powerful performances and a raw, authentic sound.

Acorns & Armchairs

Folk outfit Acorns & Armchairs is the husband-wife duo of Michael and Lydia Summerville-Dueck from Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada. Both classically-trained musicians, they enjoy performing everything from opera to jazz to country to gospel (and sometimes with the odd Broadway musical number thrown in for good measure). As Acorns & Armchairs these two musicians have found an outlet to perform in both sacred and secular venues with a variety of repertoire that comfortably places them on a festival stage, in a church, or even in your living room! They seek to bring joy and rest to the soul through their music!

Kites and Lights is a sister-brother duo from hailing from Kleefeld, MB. They love to perform pop, folk and Christian covers (with even a little country thrown in from time to time)! Formally formed in 2023, they have a long history of making music together in their childhood home, in church and on family road trips.

Abandoning Abby is an indie pop duo composed of Ryan Hildebrand and Ben Hiebert, bringing a unique blend of rock and classical influences to their music. With a decade of experience, Ryan specializes in guitar and Ben showcases his vocal talents. The duo has played shows in Winkler and Morden at venues like the WAC and Finer Spirit, as well as unofficial gigs at Steinbach Christian School. Currently, they are writing and recording music for their upcoming EP release, slated for later this year. Abandoning Abby is excited to perform more shows in Steinbach, contributing to the local music scene's rejuvenation with their passion and commitment to their craft.

Based in Manitoba, Canada, the New Covenant Quartet has been a staple in the Southern gospel music scene since the early 1990s. They specialize in traditional Southern gospel music, captivating audiences with harmonies and heartfelt lyrics. The quartet travels extensively, sharing messages of love, acceptance, and forgiveness through performances at churches, festivals, and community events. Their passion and commitment inspire and connect with audiences, keeping the Southern gospel music legacy alive. Their journey is about creating a community rooted in hope and faith, making them a cherished fixture in the music scene.

The band is comprised of Darryl Marsch on lead vocals, electric guitar, and acoustic guitar, Glen Hartley on bass guitar and backing vocals, and Randy Weimer on drums and backing vocals. With years of experience performing in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Ontario, they have entertained crowds at various festivals, resorts, corporate events, and bars. Their diverse setlist features recognizable, popular, and danceable hits from Classic Rock, Country-Rock, Old Time Rock n Roll, and newer Top Forty. Equipped with top-quality sound and lighting equipment, the band delivers an energetic show that prioritizes fun. Whether you're looking for a lively performance to get the crowd moving, this band is sure to provide an unforgettable experience with their unique blend of music and enthusiasm.
Mother Burden

Forged in friendship through a local choir, Mother Burden is a trio inspired by everyday lives and the roles held most dear. Carving out a small portion of their time to share a love of music, the mom guilt quickly kicked in; thankfully, their stubbornness won out, and thus Mother Burden was formed. Aside from arranging covers of their favourite folk and pop tunes spanning 50 years, they do also enjoy being mothers to 10 children, many pets, baby goats, and probably dragons. 
P-Noise

P-Noise

P Noise is an all-Filipino band from Steinbach. The band started in 2014 and has taken part in the city’s local events such as Summer in the City, Free Concert at the Park, and Relay for Life. Members of the band grew up in the ’90s. Back in the Philippines, at the same time when rock and alternative music were at their finest out west, it was also the time when Filipino rock music was mainstream. Music from both Western (e.g., Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Green Day, etc.) and local (Original Filipino Music) artists heavily influenced the members, and their love for music drives the band to continue playing music. P Noise consists of Jeffrey on vocals, Paul and Elmer on guitars, JP on bass, and Sol on drums.

Gerald Chuhiwon and his son, Fitzge, have been proud residents of Steinbach for nearly eight years. United by a deep love of music, they enjoy making music together as a way to bond and share joyful moments as a family. Though they play primarily for fun, Gerald and Fitzge also volunteer their time and talents to perform at local home care facilities, bringing comfort and entertainment to members of the community. Their performances reflect a heartfelt desire to share the simple, meaningful gift of music. Together, they hope to continue sharing their music with wider audiences and are grateful for opportunities to be part of local events that celebrate community and creativity.
Louden King

Louden King

June 5th, 6:30pm
Louden started drumming at the age of 4 and later developed a passion for guitar. He built a studio in his basement for rock'n'roll experimentation and live performance, blending blazing guitars, thundering drums, and driving bass with authentic melodies. His guitar instrumental album "Supermassivity" was released in April 2024, featuring the title track on Guitar World's June Spotify playlist. Louden is currently working on his sophomore release, due out in Summer 2025, with new singles expected in May that showcase his maturing songwriting and instrument mastery. The new music is influenced by legendary artists such as Beck, Bonham, Peart, and Satriani, and promises to deliver exciting live performances.
The Chammartins

The Chammartins

The Chammartins are an eight-member family band known for their heartfelt performances and eclectic mix of folk, country, pop, and gospel music. With four daughters and a son-in-law on vocals, a son on mandolin and bass, another son-in-law on cajón, and the family patriarch on guitar, their sound is rich in harmony, rhythm, and connection. Making music together for over 30 years—since the daughters were young—The Chammartins bring a deep-rooted musical bond to every stage they play. They’ve performed at community favourites such as Festival du Voyageur, Summer in the City, and KR Barkman Park, and continue to share their love of music through regular involvement in the Ste. Anne Catholic Church choir.

Southeast Brass

The Southeast Brass Quintet formed out of the Southeast Community Band that began in 2022. This multi-generational band has given many musicians in the region a reason to start making music again. As the band has grown so have the ensembles that have arisen from the main group. The Brass Quintet has been playing together for two years now and hope their music gives audiences as much joy as it gives them.
