SAC Presents Powerful Stories Through Music with Orontes Guitarists

Steinbach, MB — The Steinbach Arts Council invites you to a night of classical guitar with Orontes Guitarists on November 1st. Stories of Refuge  features the Orontes Guitarists, an ensemble who began in Beirut as a group of Syrian guitarists. These artists have an incredible story of persevering through hardship and will share the music that strengthened them on their journey. They bring audiences an uplifting blend of many musical styles, including Syrian Folklore, Blues, Jazz, Flamenco, Baroque, Classical, and Latin music.

Tara Schellenberg, Performing Arts Coordinator at SAC, explains why this concert will be a must-see. “I believe the story of finding hope and peace in difficult circumstances is one that all of us can relate to in one way or another. For many of us, we turn to music as a refuge in troubling times. Audiences can expect to be encouraged and inspired by the stories and exceptional music shared this evening.”

Hailing from different cultural and religious traditions themselves, the ensemble is keenly aware of how music transcends the barriers between us. Expect to draw together in community, as the Orontes Guitarists share the music that has lifted their spirits amid challenges.

Orontes Guitarists: Stories of Refuge will take place at 7:30pm November 1st, 2024 at the Grace Mennonite Church in Steinbach. Tickets are now on sale, available at steinbacharts.ca or by calling 204-346-1077.
