*This year’s programming will include more group music classes, like violin, piano, and songwriting, with tons of opportunities to work collaboratively with others!
50/50! for Kids was dedicated for A.S.A.P. What will the funds be used for?
Hire professional artists, musicians, instructors and art and music therapists to teach and inspire young, creative minds to explore new experiences.
Purchase supplies required for programming such as instruments, paint and brushes, clay, computer programs, culinary supplies, and so on, to provide the tools required to succeed in this diverse programming.
Operational costs include administration to organize the programming and set up the space and equipment to meet the requirements for facilitation; costs for promotion/marketing and costs to transport youth who otherwise do not have access to this program.
Why is Art Important?
Creation, Innovation, & Teamwork
Art is a safe venue for youth to express their individuality, dreams and ideas. Art is enjoyable and it is a fun way to engage children from all walks of life. Youth of all ages can participate in ASAP and easy-to-do projects – individually and as a team! Collaboration is significant in creativity.
Requires Observation, Reflection & Implementation
The skills necessary for successful achievement are applied in art exposure. Creating art requires youth to observe their subject matter, interpret art and reflect on how it connects with their life. Favorite memories will most often include some form of ART – music, video, shows, media or other creative forms!
Art projects force children to create action plans and achieve project goals. Youth learn to utilize their time, materials and individual skills to create and finalize their art creation.
Improves Student Achievement
Student achievement improves when the arts are included in overall education. Youth who receive art & music are four times more likely to be recognized for academic excellence.
Art helps children think globally. Art exposure of diverse cultures and viewpoints helps children accept differences in their peers and in society.
The Steinbach Arts Council is an umbrella organization for performing and visual arts groups, enriching the lives of our community through the development of local artists and musicians and exposure to professional art forms.
